Earnest, Ernie to his foster family, is an incredible puppy. He is well-mannered and knows to sit when he wants or needs something from his humans. He is a gentle pup with a silly, playful personality. Ernie matches the human energy around him. If the humans in the house are playful, Ernie is playful. If the humans want to snuggle, he’s all for that. He’s a big pup weighing in at 22 pounds, and he is firmly convinced that he’s a lap dog. Ernie loves to go for walks, and his favorite toys are the Benebone chew toys, specifically designed for aggressive chewers.
Ernie does well with humans of all ages, from infants to adults. He loves all dogs and enjoys his playdates with the Chihuahua mix as much as he does with the Great Pyrenees. He has also been introduced to cats and doesn’t really show an interest in them.
Ernie is intelligent, curious, eager to please, and social. He is learning to heel while on the leash and is working on sit, stay, leave it, down, fetch, and off. He is also learning to alert when he needs to go outside. Ernie sleeps through the night in his crate and is content to be in the crate while the humans are at work. While Ernie loves his treats, he is highly motivated by attention and affection. With the right training, Ernie has the perfect temperament to be a great therapy dog, a wonderful family dog and/or the best Bestie!!
