First Classes begin in October 2025!

These are not your typical pet store obedience classes! We offer 5-week classes that will teach your dog the basics of obedience, advanced obedience, as well as address typical problem behaviors. Classes are limited to 6 dogs in order to allow your trainer more time to work with each student one to one, as well as create an environment that is less distracting for your dog than most other big-box group obedience classes. We will focus not only on teaching your dog the basics of good manners, but we will also help you understand who and what your dog is and how to better communicate with your canine!
PLEASE NOTE: If your dog has any of the following concerns, a group class may not be the appropriate setting for you:
- Aggression, either towards people or other dogs.
- Significant reactivity (for example: cannot settle after a reasonable amount of time; cannot tolerate being in close proximity to new people or other dogs; cannot stop barking/jumping/calling out in new environments).
- Significant fear or anxiety (hides behind you or under a chair and cannot be coaxed out; cowers or hides when a new person or another dog comes near; may urinate when stressed or anxious).
Dogs with these behaviors are not in a state of mind to learn new skills, and a classroom setting is not an optimal setup to work past them. Please reach out to us if you are not sure a group class is for you. We will be happy to troubleshoot this with you and offer alternatives if a class setting isn't right for you and your dog!

All classes will be held at

Advance and Specialty Classes Coming Soon!

Meet John, Our Trainer!

My road to becoming a professional trainer began when I adopted my first dog, Alice, in 2006. Like many other people who have welcomed a dog into their life and their home, I was forever changed! Soon after adopting her I became interested in fostering rescue dogs. I took in my first foster in 2007, and over the next 15 years my husband and I found forever homes for over 60 dogs. Throughout that time I started reading training books and learning how to teach basic obedience skills. Occupational therapy was my “real” career during that time, which involved working with kids with special needs within educational settings. I noticed considerable overlap in the underlying approaches and techniques for working with both species.

In 2015 I earned my Certified Dog Trainer title through CATCH Canine Academy. Soon after, I was accepted for a 3-month internship at the Animal Humane Society (AHS). Upon completion, I was hired to work part time at AHS as an animal behaviorist. I taught group classes, in-home training sessions, and outreach in St Paul, MN. For the next few years I juggled both jobs, working full time as a therapist during the day and part time evenings as a trainer. In 2023, I decided to open my own business and Paw & Order - Twin Cites was born! Family dogs are my wheelhouse, and with my previous experience as an OT, I enjoy working with people from all walks of life and ability levels!
