Anne started training professionally in 2002 and founded Downtown Dogs Dog Daycare and Boarding in 2004. Though she sold Downtown Dogs to a wonderful new owner in 2010 she took all she learned about social behavior to reinvent obedience training to incorporate social learning and canine play. She specializes in social behavior and family dogs. She loves helping families and dogs understand each other better so they can have the best bond and as joyful a life together as possible. She offers boarding (daycare) as well as group and private training.
My philosophy is to provide humane training and behavior modification that is backed by science. Learning shouldn’t be painful or scary, therefore I don’t use techniques or devices that could potentially be either. Training is force free and rewards based.
I specialize in basic manners, fear/aggression, leash reactivity, resource guarding, problem behaviors, and puppy training.
River Valley Dog Obedience and Guidance Services offers private, in-home training. I use a balanced approach to shaping behaviors, with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and effective communication. My background as a trainer was in a daycare and boarding facility, where I worked for years as the puppy socialization and obedience trainer. I recently started my own business serving the southwest metro, and I’ve worked with dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes.
We use humane teaching methods because we can get the desired result using the carrot, not the stick. We are committed to dogs and people to create the relationship they desire.
