Meet Opal-

Opal is an 8 month old shepherd mix who is gentle, playful, affectionate and friendly.  She can be skittish with unfamiliar situations, but warms up to new people and dogs immediately, and is also cat friendly.   She has a beautiful, fluffy coat, the sweetest shepherd face and adorable, expressive ears.  Opal is housebroken and sleeps quietly in her crate at night.

The ideal home for Opal would be an active person, or a family with older (10+) children – she loves the teenager in her foster home, but sudden movements make her nervous, so very young children would not be a good fit.   She also exhibits some mild herding behaviors that could intimidate younger kids.   Opal loves to be outside and must have a securely fenced yard.  Walks are her favorite, and she does well on a leash, both by herself and with another dog.  She would also be a great running partner.  Opal is not a barker, but is very vocal with little yips when she is playing, wants attention, or when she is ready to go for a walk.

Opal likes playing / running around with other dogs, chewing on bones, stuffed toys, belly rubs / pets, lounging on a dog bed or the couch, and hanging out on the deck watching the bunnies and squirrels.

Opal has a lot of love to give and with patience and training will blossom into her full potential.  We can’t wait for the perfect person to come and help her get there!
